History Of Sudoku
Sudoku was first published in a US based puzzle magazine in 1979. It's been popular in Japan since 1986, but only recently has it gained popularity in the United States. The magazine that first published the game, was called Dell Pencil, Puzzle and Word Games.
Sudoku was designed by a man named Howard Garns, a retired architect and puzzle designer. The original name of the game was "Number Place", the name Sudoku was attached to the game when it became popular in Japan.
Now, the game is published in a myriad of daily newspapers including The New York Post, USA Today, Washington Post, The Boston Globe, Chicago Tribune, The Oregonian and many others. The game also appears in many puzzle books and magazines.
